People Have Begun To Use Pack Animals 4700 Years Ago

International group of archeologists I have found proofs of use of a bridle in the Middle East more than four and a half thousand years ago, long before emergence in the region of horses.

Scientists have studied the skeleton of a donkey found at excavation in Tell-es-Safi (in the territory of modern Israel). It is considered that exactly here earlier there was an ancient filistimsky city of Gef mentioned in the Bible. Remains of an animal are found in the base of the building, obviously, the donkey has been sacrificed during construction of the house.

Was considered that people have learned to operate an animal by means of a bridle much later, in the middle of a bronze age (after 2000 B.C.). There were versions that bridles initially I was are tested on horses, and later — on donkeys. However the find from Tell-es-Safi says that already during an early bronze age residents of the Middle East have begun to use something like a bridle. On teeth of an animal traces of use of a mouthpiece from soft material have remained, it is possible from a tree or a rope.

According to historians, donkeys were widely used in the region for delivery of goods. The radio-carbon analysis has shown that age of remains — about 4700 years. The donkey has been delivered to the territory of Canaan from Egypt.
