In the 90-ies in every village thrived local discos, which gathered all the young people. The atmosphere of rural clubs was very special, which was shown in his series of photos by Lithuanian photographer Andrew Maxis.
A little nostalgia?
Andrew Maksis was born in USA in a family of Lithuanian immigrants.
Sometimes he lacked communication with his compatriots.
So one day there came a time when Andrew was drawn to his historic homeland.
He first visited Lithuania in 1995.
In 1999, he went to remote Lithuanian villages.
Once he got to the village disco, which struck him to the core. It was so different from what he saw in the US.
Andrew even published a book, which was criticized for the fact that the photographer is not in the best light showed the country that joined the EU in 2004.
